In their second game of the season the Boston side traveled to the capital to face the Washington Wizards and while they didn’t have a 23-point win like their first game they still dismantled them by 20-odd points finishing the game with a result reading 122-102.

Following their back-to-back wins the Celtics then traveled to Michigan and faced off against a struggling Detroit Pistons side who were of a bigger threat than any of their previous two opponents as they managed to score 118 points but still succumbed to the reigning champions as an inspired 37-point performance by Tatum made sure that the Celtics won all of their opening three fixtures.

The 2024 NBA champions continued their winning record against the Milwaukee Bucks at home before and away fixture to the Indiana Pacers finally put a stop to their winning run as their last year’s Conference Finals opponents fought back from a huge deficit and forced an overtime during which they finally beat the reigning champions by a score of 135-132. 

Despite their loss at the hands of the Pacers the Celtics quickly turned around their record with back-to-back wins against the Charlotte Hornets and with a record of 6 wins and 1 loss they will be hoping to continue this hot run of form in their coming few fixtures.

Having failed to qualify for last year’s playoffs after a loss to the Sacramento Kings during the play-in the Golden State Warriors have started this season with a burning desire to rectify their last season’s disappointment as they were undefeated during the pre-season fixtures winning all six of their games before starting their regular season matches in similar form as they defeated the Portland Trail Blazers in their first game by a score of 140-104.

This loss although hurtful seemed to be a turning point for the Warriors as in their first official game without the Splash Brothers in their line up the San Francisco side defeated the New Orleans Pelicans by a score of 124-106 with Buddy Hield in particular being a huge benefactor in absence of the 3-point shooting god.

Since Curry’s injury Buddy Hield has started all of the games and has averaged 25.3 points while the Warriors are still undefeated and seem to be on a roll at the time of writing. Currently sitting third in the Western Conference table with a 5-1 record the 2022 NBA champions look to have found the right balance and only time will tell if they will keep getting better once Stephen Curry returns to the lineup.
