Chelsea come into this match in a bit of a mixed run of form. While they’re scoring plenty, 53 goals in 31 games, their defence has been leaky, giving up 38 goals at a rate of 1.23 per match. Looking at their last five games, the Blues have struggled at the back, shipping 12 goals while scoring nine. 

They did smash Port Vale 7-0 in the cup, but followed that with three straight losses: a 3-0 league defeat to Everton, two tough Champions League losses to PSG, and a narrow 1-0 loss to Newcastle.

Liam Rosenior has some big selection headaches here, too. Both Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernández are out suspended, which takes away a lot of their pace out wide and creativity in the middle.

 Cole Palmer has been the standout with nine goals and an assist in 20 games. Without Fernández in the middle, Chelsea need Palmer to be the main man to unlock the City defence.

With Trevoh Chalobah, Tyrique George Bynoe-Gittens, Reece James, and Levi Colwill all sidelined, the squad is stretched. That said, Cole Palmer is still pulling the strings in that No. 10 role, and he’s the main reason Chelsea fans will feel they have a shout at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City FC Preview

Manchester City arrive in London as one of the league's most clinical teams. Pep Guardiola’s side are averaging exactly two goals a game and boasts a rock-solid defence. 

Their recent form shows a team that know how to win big games, evidenced by their 4-0 thumping of Liverpool and a 2-0 win at Arsenal. However, their recent Champions League exit, losing twice to Real Madrid, shows they aren't invincible.

The big concern for City is at the back. They’re missing three heavyweights in John Stones, Rúben Dias, and Joško Gvardiol. Even with a thin backline, they have the ultimate get out of jail free card in Erling Haaland. 

With 22 goals already this season, he’s a nightmare for any defence. With Rayan Cherki providing the spark and the duo of Rodri and Bernardo Silva running things in midfield, City will expect to dictate the tempo.

Man City’s sheer quality up front and Haaland’s form make them the favourites here. While Chelsea usually put up a fight at home, their defensive issues might be their undoing against a team this clinical. I'm going for a 1-2 Manchester City win. A smart bet would be Both Teams to Score & City to Win, as Chelsea usually find the net, but City should have too much for them in the end.
