In a tight contest against NorthEast United, Mumbai City FC salvaged a point through a late strike from Lallianzuala Chhangte, who reacted quickest to a rebound from the goalkeeper. Until then, the Islanders had trailed 1–0 and relied largely on set-pieces for chances—ironically conceding from one as well.

Despite that, Mumbai showed strong defensive discipline, limiting their opponents to just one shot on target and an xGA of 0.33. The result keeps them unbeaten in three matches with two clean sheets, while coach Peter Kratky once again trusted the same XI, suggesting he has already found a balanced lineup early in the season. 

Mumbai captain Lallianzuala Chhangte has now delivered decisive goals in back-to-back matches, but an equally encouraging sign was the resurgence of star forward Jorge Pereyra Díaz. 

After two quiet outings, Díaz rediscovered his sharpness in the last game—testing the keeper with a couple of shots, creating four key passes, and setting up the big chance that led to the winning goal. Against a fragile Delhi defence, Díaz will be eager to turn that creativity into goals.

Sporting Club Delhi’s struggles continue in their debut campaign, with three defeats from three games so far. Their latest setback came against FC Goa, where they went down by a narrow 1–0 margin. 

While the result still added to their losing streak, the slimmer scoreline offered a small positive compared to earlier heavy defeats of 4–1 and 2–0. Searching for solutions, the Delhi coach made three changes to the lineup, with Nora Fernandes coming in for Vishal Yadav as the most notable switch. 

Delhi managed to face only two shots on target in the entire game, largely due to the outstanding display from centre-back Rafael Ribeiro. The Brazilian defender delivered a superb performance, recording 14 clearances, seven recoveries, and blocking five shots. 

While he will once again be key to organizing the backline, Delhi also need attacking support, with goals expected to come from Matija Babovic.

Mumbai City FC head into the game as clear favourites, having remained unbeaten in four of their five home fixtures. They also carry a psychological edge after a convincing 4–1 win over Delhi in the Indian Super Cup not long ago. 

However, from Delhi’s perspective, the last match — despite ending in defeat — showed clear improvement in their defensive organization. If they can maintain that solidity at the back and capitalize on Mumbai’s relatively quiet attack, a draw could well be within reach.
